REVIEWS:
Gerry reviewed a family party at the Black Bear diner & everything was very nice, including that they used the dining room - after a special arrangement, would visit again. There was discussion about when we will return to in-flesh meetings.
Howeird follow on'd that as of tomorrow the state of Nevada will go back to pre-Covid levels
Candy asked about masks at the diner & Gerry answered: Not while eating. But we did mask while going to restrooms and in and out. Staff wore masks.
Gerry also reviewed a two novel collection by Benford and Niven 'Bowl of Heaven and Shipstar' as more tethered to plausible science on the face of it & as having a huge environment for the setting. It sets up for a sequel & he rated it as engaging.

Lisa reviewed Balticon via remote, went to some science programs that went well and did some filking & it's got to the point where 'everyone knows what to do' & open filking & concerts are working very, very well. She is not a fan of discord & Zoom doesn't handle groups much larger than 10 without problems - but she had fun
Gayle had a mixed experience with the Discord interface at Balticon, but she had a really good time & thought the science track was excellent
Craig mentioned that he has been appreciating & enjoying virtual meetings, since he can attend them & Kennita suggested that the right camera could help with remote viewing for a live meeting

Gayle reviewed a trip to Southern California in a rented Tesla, and the transport did work out. They visited family, did a little babysitting, did a submersible tour that was quite a hit & enjoyed it enough to want to go back

we adjourned at 8:35 pm

and the rumor of the week = 'There are no rumors everything is true
