Ported howierd website from godaddy to webhostingpad.com. go daddy changed their email policies, which would have incurred a greater cost.

Baycon is extremely pleased to announce the return of BayCon in 2022. The convention will be held the weekend of July 1 - 4 at the San Mateo Marriott! Discount through Dec 31 or they'll honor 2020 memberships.
Lisa: It's up against Westercon Tonopah, NV – July 1-4, 2022 (which has been known for years).
Ken
Legion of Rassilon this Friday. Will be watching the next two episodes of the latest season: "Flux: Once, Upon a Time & Flux: Village of the Angels". Christmas gift raffle (bring a wrapped item, get a ticket). 7:30pm, Denny's Milpitas. Near 880 and Calaveras Blvd.

Spiderman: Impossible to talk about plot because [spoilers] If you enjoyed the past films, you'll want to see this one. Tom & Zendaya have become incredible actors - they shine! Highly recommend. 3D is done subtle (well, web-slinging aside...) Full Price, with all the letters of things that theatres offer.
Yochanan: Really great. Great performances. Funny, moving, sad, deep thought. Stay for all the cookies!
Saw West Side Story. Difference of opinion. Original was fresh in their minds. John prefers the new one, Chris prefers the original (though they can agree that the the acting was better new one). Rita was amazing in the new one (the Doc roll). Worth seeing. XD version. Well done. Highly recommend.
ChrisO: while preferring the original, does like the new one.

Worldcon. In general, enjoyed the virtual side of the hybrid convention. Sometimes they were overwhelmed. Would like a virtual element to continue in the future.
DaveG: (Craig was sorely missed) Interesting and weird to be peopling. Felt a bit out of sorts being around people. Went off pretty well. Hotel had accessibility issues (90-yo hotel). Small elevators. Panels were good. Ran the pre-Hugo finalists reception. Issue before the Hugo rehearsal after a fire alarm. Ceremony was delayed by an hour. Went off pretty well. Waiting to see how the omicron spread happens. About 2000 people on site. 2022 site selection chose the China bid.
Howierd: Seanan McGuire on Twitter got decked out for the Hugos, but her identity got stolen on the way to the convention. Could be "Best Related Work" nominee next year for her tweets.
Lisa: Orlando 2023 has announced its NASFIC bid. It would be at Disney World if it wins. (There's also a Boston hoax Christmas in the summer bid)

Went to a Broceliande winter concert. Nice to hear live music again. Xmas related music, beautifully performed. https://broceliande.org/

FanFic: 2013 DW crossover The Daleks Universal Invasion (trilogy) 10th Doctor and daleks. Visiting the worlds of Sonic the hedgehog, super mario and gumball. Some issues that didn't work: repetitive storytelling, and not faithful to the sources.

History SJ Holiday light show. Went Saturday to SJ History Park (by happy hollow). Mixed. Light show was a bit juvenile. The museum had a good 70-80% of the buildings open, which was great. Wonderful display on the San Jose LGBTQ+ experience over the decades. Had a great time with the museum.
Hawkeye is doing really great. Wonderful.
Ron's Gone Wrong (in progress) is fun.

Open City Diner (DC) Wonderful location, near the Omni Shoreham Hotel. Brunch all day. You can pay at your table via a device (very European) and a frequent diner program. Very nice, recommend if in DC.
