Committees: Brief update from the Sports Committee
SJGiants Saturday, July 30 Marvel's Defenders of the Diamond Night (evening game, 6pm) It’ll be the same Party Patio (along the first base line), $70/person. Buffet meal, 2 drinks tickets, unlimited water soda and snax. Send inquiries or PayPal basfa@p4tt.com

Robyn: Will be at Westercon this week.
Howierd: Summer in LV only 107 today. Similar for the rest of the week.
Gerald: Settled on a Subaru wagon being rented through Turo. to get to Tonopah. Gayle’s been trying to find appropriate car rentals.
Lisa: Is supposedly going to Westercon. Tested negative (and 2 days past fever).
Rick: Suggests that if you can’t go to a con, buy a supporting membership.

Yochanan: Movie (Prime?) Cosmoball (Russian) Interesting, if not OTT plot. Titular sport is more than just a game. Watched the dubbed version with subtitles, which is a mistake. Cute, not highly recommend. Villain and daughter reminds of the villain in ST: Prodigy. Ok movie.
Boys Present Diabolical (prime). Based in the same universe as The Boys. Animated, 8 x 15. Each episode is in a different style of animation. Gorss and OTT violent, but is funny. Sometimes touching. https://www.avclub.com/the-boys-presents-diabolical-review-1848583646 Should watch the Boys first to know the universe.
Welcome to Mercy. Foreign film in english, set in latvia. Character has stigmata, sent to convent to be cured. Slow burn. More creepy than scary. Not bad, but not great. Interesting movie. Good acting. Different.
Robyn: Spend the weekend at Festival of the Livingroom, the online FilkFest. Fri-Sun concert fests. She and Fred enjoyed themselves. Next one will be toward the end of September.
Howierd: Slept through the Livingrooms again… Books from Kindle: Ecogenesis (ecogenesis

Valerie: Been reading many many things: Sourdough by Robin Sloan is quirky local baking fantasy. The Witch King by H.E. Edgmon is lovely teen queer fantasy. T. Kingfisher's Nettle and Bone and Summer in Orcus are very pretty.
Rick: Nice words about Ms. Marvel. Every episode has been delightful. Family dynamics great. Very evocative, music wonderful, artwork great. Dialogue is intelligent, well done. Has high hopes. Very delighted so far.
Tammi: Just finished Belle (Anime) it was gorgeous. Retelling of B&B with VR. Vr in 3D, 2D for the “real” world. Plot was a little incomprehensible. It was a love story, but not with the girl and beast. Many different love stories. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belle_(2021_film) Gorgeous, music is wonderful. Recommended, but not the best thing ever. You will cry. Yochanan - saw it in cinema. Loved it (reviewed it prior) Loved it, and worth cinema.
Gayle: Last night watched (H&I) ST:Voyager episode Tsunkatse. Crew on shore-leave. Most wanted to go to a fight. 7 & Tuvok had bee captured and put into this arena. Interesting, and close to a tearjerker ending. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsunkatse
