New Business: None.

Announcements:

Lisa: Gallifrey One’s antepenultimate convention will be happening 1 week earlier in 2026. 2027 will later, and 2028 will be their last. Showmasters will most likely be creating a Doctor Who convention to fill the gap, but it will be (most likely) a for-profit con, but with similar pricing. gallifreyone.com

Ken: This Friday is the fourth Friday and time, once again, for the monthly meeting of the Legion of Rassilon – your Doctor Who fan club. This month we will be watching the final four episodes of The Talons of Weng-Chiang, staring Tom baker, Louise Jamison and Christopher Benjamin. Meeting starts at 7:30 pm, at the Milpitas Denny’s, on Abbott Avenue, off Calaveras Boulevard near 880. lor.club

Reviews

Yochanan = Captain America: Brave New World (in theatres) Enjoyed it. Definitely a Marvel action film. About 2 hours long. Kind of helps having seen all the other related properties (Falcon & Winter Soldier, Eternals, and the Ed Norton Hulk). Good, not great. Saw on discount Tuesday in the Dolby theatre. Pretty good story. There’s only a scene at the end of the credits. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_America%3A_Brave_New_World
The Walking Dead: World Beyond (Netflix & others) Heard little about this, but it’s really good . 20 episodes over two seasons. Teenagers as the main protagonists in Nebraska. Does fill in gaps to (and sets up) other spinoffs. From around 2020. Starts slow. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Walking_Dead:_World_Beyond
The D-Con Chamber (YouTube) a podcast with Dominic Keating and Connor Trinneer. Watched a few episodes that were watch parties of Star Trek Enterprise. A lot of fun. Worth for Star Trek fans (especially Enterprise). youtube.com/@thedconchamber?si=ErkYItO8fOzSekTX

Rick = Severance (AppleTV+) more twisty and paranoid than before. Weird relationships between people who may or may not be who they are. Continues to be well worth watching. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Severance_(TV_series)
Death's End is mind-blowing. (third book in Remembrance of Liu Cixin’s Earth's Past trilogy body was the first) Might be his favorite of the three. Spans 2010 to 3,000,000 years in the future. Hard SF, well thought out and innovative. Well done. Originally in Mandarin, but well translated with footnotes. Won the Locust & finalist for 2017 Hugo. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death%27s_End

Lisa = Doctor Who on YouTube. Entire seasons of the classic story have been live-streamed. This last Sunday was season seven (Pertwee). The old KTEH on steroids! Full season live-streams happen on Sundays. It was over ten hours long! (well, it was 26 episodes, 23 minutes in length). youtube.com/@classicdoctorwho?si=ttjW9f2WO2_JKUC8
Gallifrey One in 35 Millimeter (convention) Went to some of the science programming, was on a panel about costuming, watched some panels, met some guests, perused the dealers room. Not enough self to get to everything. Looking forward to the last three. really enjoyed the costume parade. The photo sessions were run efficiently. gallifreyone.com

Ken = Asbestos removal is not fun. We are having the popcorn ceiling in our house removed. Last Wednesday was every room other than the living room, and tomorrow is the Living Room. Lots of furniture shuffling, and a perturbed cat…

Rumor of the Week: Red hulk smash.
