ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Yochanan announced that there is an anime-centered convention, dzb con, on May 9-11
see dbzcon.com
Reviews:
Yochanan reviewed a movie called 'The Legend of Ochi' as a decent movie, but he was a little dissatisfied with the ending, although it was a pretty movie. Worth matinee
see = https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Legend_of_Ochi
and Yochanan reviewed a book by Lew Wallace, 'Ben Hur' - written in 1880 - as a really rousing adventure & well-written. He really enjoyed reading it & recommends it. Gerry commented that he saw the movie based on the book and says it is a good movie. There were several comments to the subject - Gayle says the movie is quite bloody; Rick commented that some of the book is 'a slog' but overall quite an exciting read
and Yochanan reviewed season 7 of 'Black Mirror' on Netflix as he really loves the series & highly, highly recommends it. He warns that if you watch it on Netflix, you need to make sure that you are being shown the episodes in order
see = https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Mirror
Patty reviewed Tad Williams 'The Last King of Osten Ard' and rates the entire series as very worthwhile & worth buying
see = https://www.goodreads.com/series/125824-the-last-king-of-osten-ard
the first series: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory,_Sorrow,_and_Thorn
bridge novel: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Heart_of_What_Was_Lost

Gerry reviewed a PBS showing of the movie 'Escape from Alcatraz' and rates it worth full price, with very good acting
see = https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escape_from_Alcatraz_(film)
Ken reviewed the latest episode of Dr Who: Lucky Day as 'OMGA!' and a very strong episode - definitely worth a Disney Plus subscription. It is a 'Doctor-light story, focusing on last season’s companion Ruby Sunday'. Yochanan also enjoyed the episode
Ken reviewed a documentary series, 'Light and Magic', about Industrial Light and Magic that he enjoyed watching. There are 2 seasons so far and worth it if you have Disney Plus
see = https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_%26_Magic_(TV_series)
Trey reviewed a YouTube video seen, 'The Town I moved to Has no Cemeteries and now I know why' - that he recommends, has a roughly 90 minute run-time and it drew him in.

Rick reviewed 'Andor', saying it is at the halfway part of the series now & is successfully keeping up the suspense. 'There is a wonderful sense of dread and foreboding in it & it may be the best that Star Wars has ever produced. Period.' There is a lot of espionage taking place in the plot, the politics is very realistic and it has relatable characters. Yochanan commented that he really loves it and likes that it feels 'very real'
see = https://ondisneyplus.disney.com/show/andor
and Rick reviewed a movie, 'Speed Racer' as starring a lot of very good people in a 'divisively animated setting' - and that it was an excellent movie that bombed at the time. He says it is surprisingly brilliant, with a subversive plot about selling out & there are very many cool tricks in the production. Yochanan loved it, Patty agrees & thinks it was incredible fun. Trey also enjoyed the movie & found it inspirational.

and the rumor of the week was = 'May the Cinco be with you!'
we adjourned at = 8:45pm
