Reviews:

Yochanan reviewed 'The Phoenician Scheme' by Wes Anderson as somewhat tedious and rated 'C'. He does not recommend it
see = https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Phoenician_Scheme
and Yochanan reviewed a talk with slideshow at Stanford last week about the Rubin Observatory as it was outstanding. There was standing room only attendance & he really enjoyed it. Rani agreed that the lecture was exceptionally good, recommending Stanford's entire lecture series & Keith enjoyed the technology that was described, thinking it's 'really cool stuff'
see = https://kipac.stanford.edu/
also = https://kipac.stanford.edu/events/calendar
and Yochanan reviewed 'From the World of John Wick: Ballerina' as pretty good, especially if you like action movies, worth matinee
see = https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ballerina_(2025_film)

Lisa reviewed a sf con, BayCon plus Westercon that she enjoyed. She found it relatively well-attended, there were good parties and good panels & she enjoyed the filking. She plans to attend next year. Yochanan also attended and had a marvelous time, commending the panels and media guests. He will also be attending next year. Valerie found the con very nice & commended the Afro-Futurism Lounge as a fun space. Keith mentioned there was a poet GoH and he also enjoyed the con. Rani thought it was nice that the con had something for everyone and really enjoyed the short films program

and Lisa reviewed the restaurant where BayCon was held as she blames the hotel management completely for it being understaffed with really slow service - not having received ANY food on one visit and only having 1 person serving during rush periods. Yochanan walked 2 blocks to get really good food, recommending that & Kennita pointed out the hotel demanded that the restaurant staff take their mandatory breaks during the main meal times.

and the rumor of the week was = 'Over the weekend there were reports and retorts and explosions as the 4th was celebrated vigorously'

we adjourned at = 8:26pm
