A party jar was established
The minutes of meeting 1226 were accepted as 'wiggle room'
the Treasurer reported that last week we took in $18.26 in the regular jar & $11.87 in the party jar
the Vice President was not present
The President said 'hi' to Chris & Kathy Duval, visiting us for the first time - and then reported that Dr. James
Earl Jones was on this [last] week's episode of 'The Big Bang' series & recommends seeing the episode
The Sports Committee reminded us that he is seeking to organize an outing to the last Friday in April's Giants game
Reminder = there will be 4 Hugo nomination meetings, held Feb 3 & 10 - and March 3 & 10
Announcements:
Howeird announced that he has 5 pairs of 3D glasses to give away [they went] & then announced that the Sunnyvale Community Players will be doing 'Little Shop of Horrors' during April & he may be in it - then Ken followed, saying that Foothill College will also be doing it at the end of February
Ken announced that the Retrodome will be showing Romeos and Juliets this weekend - 'West Side Story' and Baz Luhrmann's version of 'Romeo and Juliet' - plus the Retrodome will have a members only showing of the Oscars telecast on March 2
JC announced that Nerdvana episode 23, part 3, will be released this Wednesday
Adrienne announced a deadline passed & that she & Mo will be going to see the short subject Oscar nominated films soon - so if you're interested in going, too, contact them
Beth announced that the Starting Artists Dream team 2 will be presenting the Golden Age of Broadway, Thursday & Friday at 7pm & Saturday at 3pm & 7pm
John O announced that Pat Turner is going in for surgery & good wishes are welcome & announced that the Taiko drum group they belong to will do a concert in Newark Adult school on March 1-2 & announced that Consonance will be March 7-9 at the Milpitas Crowne Plaza & on March 7-9 Stage 1 theatre will premiere their version of Spamalot - playing for the next 3 weeks
Carole announced that the Steam Federation meets this Wednesday, 7pm at the Duke of Edinborough pub
Diane announced that Cory Booker will be speaking at Stanford sometime in the near future
[tall] Kevin announced that Capricon is this weekend & that he will be a panelist via Skype there

Brad reviewed 'Shattering Conventions' by Bob Calhoun as interesting & reviewed the specific episode of an Ed Sullivan show with the Beatles as it also had fannish tie-ins
Bill reviewed Conflict as con attendance was down a little, he & Carole had a really good time there & reviewed 'The Taken' by Vicki Pettersson as disappointing and he resented the time he spent reading it
Chris O reviewed the Star Wars exhibit at the Tech as excellent & reviewed the BART commute to SF as easy to get there & terrible to get back from
Adrienne reviewed 'Dallas Buyers Club' as a good movie, but not memorable & Mo followed that the acting in it was good
Diane reviewed the Psychotronic Film Festival as 6 hours of hilarious fun - and there were various follow-ons
Andy reviewed the Eurovision competitions as the Nordic country entries were completely bonkers - there was some crap & some good stuff & totally worth watching
Yochanan reviewed "helix' as it has terrible production values
then we did 1 birthday auction

and the rumor of the week was: 'Denver must've smoked the Superbowl'
