Announcements:
Dave C announced that Worldcon is coming up and is 8 timezones away
JC announced that Nervana podcast, episode 31, part 2, 'Geeks in Browncoats', will be out Wednesday and announced that Nerdvana Podcasts' 2nd year anniversary is August 23 & a party to celebrate this will be held at '7 stars bar and grill' from noon till 4pm & also announced that Beth made it through her first week of school
Adrienne announced that the Outlanders TV show will have its premiere episode shown online first
Reviews:
Adrienne reviewed 'Godzilla' as a fun monster movie & worth seeing; then she and lots of other people reviewed 'Guardians of the Galaxy' as a really fun & awesome movie, worth full price
I reviewed 'Lucy' as much better than I expected - worth full price - and Dave C thought 'Rubix Cube Boy' was a great name for a band
Dave C reviewed 'A Guy walks into a Bar' by Simon Rich, in the New Yorker as great enjoyed it
JC reviewed 'Pinky and the Brain Lose it' as really good & a 'must see'
John O reviewed Minnesota as hot and humid ['sultry?' Trey suggested] - but his 'Mah-wage' quote got a good laugh
Bill reviewed more freebie books
Diane reviewed Steampunk at Moffit Field as fun & worthwhile & reviewed Steve Gaspin's 'Drug Tales' as well worth full price & she announced there will be a Psychotronic Film Festival August 8 at Foothill college
Trey reviewed 'The Girl with all the Gifts' by MR Carey as quite interesting & reviewed 'The Almighty Johnsons' as it's set in new Zealand and is a quirky series & recommended - while my opinion was that it was completely misogynistic & Mo felt it was male revenge crap
we did auctions
we adjourned at 9:33
and the rumor of the week was: 'We are not Groot, we are Devo'
