Brad announced that mid-June is the meeting of the SFRA - the Science Fiction Research Association - & he's been invited to speak on a panel there.
Reviews:
JC reviewed '50 Shades of Grey' as a really good movie & much better than he expected - worth full price
Adrienne reviewed 'Foxcatcher', as 'another creepy rich person movie', reviewed 'Big Hero 6' as cute & reviewed 'Whiplash' as 'okay, I guess' & then reviewed Gallifrey 1 as she enjoyed herself & learned that the 'Avengers' TV shows are being released on blueray in letterbox format - then there were follow-ons for Gallifrey 1 that were all positive
[another] Chris reviewed 'The Almanac Project' as they aren't a fan of 'found footage' films, but it was reasonably entertaining
John O reviewed the LA Hilton as a very nice hotel & the bed was comfy & the bistro is open 24 hours
Pat reviewed 'The Imitation Game' as she's a 'Cumberbunny' and Benedict can do no wrong - it's worth full price & then reviewed 'Exodus' as terrible archeology & acting but the special fx saved the movie
Bill reviewed Conflict as they had a good time & enjoyed their time in London & reviewed Pantheacon as a chance to meet fun people & he had a great time & then Carole agreed, Bill also reviewed 'The Mousetrap' as the play is somewhat dated
[newly evil] Chris reviewed Herbert Franke's 'orchid Cage' as well-acted and enjoyed it, albeit was flawed & sexist
Bradford reviewed a 1-day comic con as pretty good & well-attended & reviewed 'The Innovators' by Walter Isaacson as comprehensive, good history & recommended
Howeird reviewed a play, 'Curtains' as quite well done, despite the plague & worth full price & reviewed Coastal Rep Theatre in Half Moon Bay as a very good group & they did 'I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change' as well done, except for a few mike problems & it'll be playing there for the next 2 weeks, but mind the terrible beach traffic
we did auctions
we adjourned at 9:14 pm
and the rumor of the week was: 'Agatha Christie has always been a mystery to me'
