BASFA Meeting 1293

held at Coco's, 1206 Oakmead Parkway (Lawrence Expressway/101 Fwy), Sunnyvale
Began 8 pm with sad thoughts about elephants on LSD
24 people attended
We established a party basket
The minutes of meeting 1292 were accepted as 'I've always depended on the kindness of Fred'
The Treasurer reported that last week we took in $16.92 in the regular jar & $7.50 in the party jar
The Vice Presidental election resulted in Ken Patterson winning!
The President had nothing fannish to report
Announcements:
JC announced that Nerdvana Podcast, episode 39, part 3 will be out Wednesday & announced he gave his notice at Michael's
Brad announced that Golden State is up by 20 points in the 3rd quarter
Ric announced that 'Wayward Pines', a 10 episode TV drama premieres Thursday & announced that the 1st volume of 'Pines' is on ebooks now for 99 cents & announced that Disney infinity 3.0 is doing a Star Wars set & announced that 'Fanboy Planet' episode 396 is out
Dave C announced that there's a con coming up - CatCon LA - like ComicCon but for cat people
Mo announced that she goes in for spinal surgery tomorrow & will be in Valley med for a few days
Ken announced that KFJC has begun 'Dirk Gently, Holistic Detective' & that May 25th is Towel Day
Reviews:
Gail reviewed making an order with Rainbow Symphony store.com of eclipse viewers and glasses as they arrived quickly & with extras
Gerry reviewed the Space Access Conference as covering all sorts of interesting things
Brad reviewed the BASFA outing as the right team won & he thanked the Sports Committee for organizing the outing & reviewed seeing 'Age of Ultron' as he's still not quite buying the 2 deus ex machina plot points & reviewed the 1941 Robert A Heinlein speech given at Worldcon as still on point & reviewed the BASFA VP election as 'since when did BASFA get so ethical' [because no one wanted to buy his vote]
Adrienne reviewed this week's episode of 'Orphan Black' as thrilling & Mo agreed
Ric reviewed an IOS game, 'Coup' as multi-player & well worth the $2 cost & reviewed the 'Wool' omnibus & reviewed the current run of the Star Wars comics as there's not a stinker in the bunch & recommends the digital versions
Mo reviewed the 'Three Body Problem' as she's very impressed by it & Fred agreed
Ken reviewed the Palo Alto Player's version of 'Addams Family, the Musical' as the cast was fantastic New Kids on the Block &
it was great fun
we did auctions
we adjourned at 9:13
and the rumor of the week was: 'We have a new president of vice'
