Began 8-ish at the Black Bear Diner

we established a party jar
The minutes of meeting 1343 were accepted 'Space raptor BASFA invasion'
The Treasurer reported that last week we took in $3.75 in the regular jar & $2.50 in the party jar
The Vice President had nothing fannish to report
The President had nothing fannish to report
The Sports Committee reported that there are no tickets remaining for the Giants/Rockies game on Friday, May 6.
PLUS Ken has tickets ON HIM RIGHT NOW for the Saturday, 5pm, May 14, SJ Giants Star Wars night game in the Martinelli Plaza for $49 each & .. and this includes food, 2 alcoholic beverages & programs
The Site Selection committee reported that the Black Bear Diner won in the BASFA site selection online balloting. Our next meeting will be at: May 9 = Lyon’s = 4233 Moorpark Ave, San Jose, CA 95129
Then the other May meetings at = Black Bear Diner = 174 W. Calaveras Blvd, Milpitas
announcements:
Andy announced that SJ in 2018 will be at Costume Con May 18, & that over Memorial Day weekend they will have a fan-table & party at Baycon & could use volunteers; contact debbie@sjin2018.org
JC announced that May 21-22 the city of Milpitas will have its annual BBQ festival with food, arts & crafts and he'll have a booth there; this will be on Milpitas Blvd, south of Caleveras & announced that on May 10 there will a book release & Nerdvana Podcast at Kepler's at 7pm
Trey announced that there are a new set of awards, the Dragoncon fan awards

Dave G reviewed the Cork & Cleaver [a restaurant new the KC convention center] as it specializes in pork dishes & wines and is rather reasonably price, that the pork chop he had was delicious & he recommends the place
Gerry reviewed the movies 'Papa Hemingway in Cuba' & 'Eye in the Sky' as both were very good, with good acting & both are worth full price
JC reviewed a shop, 'Black Heart Tattoos' as both he & Beth had great experiences there, that it took about 30 minutes, each, for them to get their tattoos & it was very clean, efficient, they had a great tattoo artist & it was a fun thing to do together, recommended
John O reviewed a book of short stories, 'The Best of Kim Stanley Robinson' as they were done very well & reviewed 'Spellsinger' by Alan Dean Foster as lots of world-building, humor & a rollicking good plot & he's started his Hugo reading, finding the 1st 2 Chuck Tingle stories to be okay
[evil] Kevin reviewed 'Throw up Your Hair' by Bad Ass as that 2:15 in the video you will recongize some BASFAns & that punk rocks without obscenities is fun
Dave C reviewed 'Zootopia' as masterful Disney animation as great fun & recommended at full price
we did auctions
we adjourned at = 8:53
and the rumor of the week was = 'A tingler is loose in the Hugos'
