BASFA minutes for Jan 23
BASFA Meeting 1382

held at the Black Bear Diner
Began at 8:04 pm - ... with a boss fight
23 people attended
we established a party jar
The minutes of meeting 1381 were accepted as 'not my minutes'
The Treasurer reported that last week we took in $7.50 in the regular jar - and $23.25 in the party jar
The Vice President had nothing fannish to report
The President had nothing fannish to report - but did say 'hi' to Dave Wallis who was visiting us for the first time ... and who speaks very well
The Sports Committee is checking out possible Barracuda dates for a BASFA outing - Feb 12, March 11, 12 and 17 are being investigated
The Party Committee reported that the next BASFA party will Saturday, 8-ish on April 15 of Babcon, at the Hyatt Regency in Burlingame
Announcements:
Ken announced that the Legion of Rasselon will meet at the IHoP at Steven's Creek this Friday at 7:30pm
JC announced that Nerdvana Podcast will have episodes out this week - and that they will be recording at Keplers Books on this Saturday, 3 till 5-ish when Pablo Hidalgo will be giving a talk
Dave C announced that bookseller Larry Smith has died
Gail announced that the SpaceX launch that happened was even more awesomely timed than she has earlier reported
Reviews:
Adrienne reviewed a TV show live action/animation mix, 'Son of Zorn' as she didn't really care for it & does not recommend it
The movie 'Hidden Figures' was reviewed a lot [by Brad, Bill, Lisa, Carole & Fred] in across the board positive terms, recommended & Brad also recommended the book
Dave C reviewed Numberwang - an online game show as - check it out
Gerry reviewed 'American Ulysses' - a biography of Ulysses S Grant - as a quick read and an amazing story & reviewed 'Rogue One' as the logical consequences ensue and there was some great acting in it & worth matinee
JC reviewed a phone & browser game, Jackbox, as he really enjoys it & to check out Jackbox.tv
we did auctions
we adjourned at 9:01 pm
and the rumor of the week was: 'President George W Bush just moved 1-up in the presidential rankings'
