BASFA Meeting 1398

held at the Black Bear Diner
was called to order at 8pm
27 people attended
We established a party jar
The minutes of meeting 1397 were accepted as 'encrypted'
The treasurer reported the we took in $1.00 in the regular jar & $6.75 in the party jar
The VP had nothing fannish to report
The President had nothing fannish to report- but has a root canal scheduled for next Monday & we said 'hi' to 'Noel', visiting us for the first time - a sf fan & short film maker
The Sports Committee reported that this Saturday is the outing to the SJ Giants Star Wars game night, 5pm, be there by 4:30 & you can get in a field pic with El Gigante
Announcements =
JC announced that since we enjoy meeting here, if an order is not correct, we should be polite in our responses
Dave C announced that there is now a lawsuit about the new California autograph law
Gerry announced that Space X got another rocket into geosynchronous orbit today
Reviews =
The secretary reviewed 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' as enjoyable & still a great romp -mostly- & stay for all the credits, worth full price
Lisa also 'I am grooted'- she saw 'GG2' in a groot (group) & had far too much fun - also upvoted the credits & is now waiting for the DVD
Noel reviewed 'King Arthur' as poorly critically received & not that bad- as compared to 'Ghost in the Shell' - but there wasn't much of a story - just a lot of moments; Mo followed on that she hasn't seen the movie but from what she read, the movie is meant as a romp
Gayle reviewed the new dinosaur species found as the creationist comments show frightening opinions
Dave C reviewed the ads for 'Alien Covenant' with Rick & Morty as fun
Adrienne reviewed 'It Happens Every Spring' as speculative fun fiction
Andy reviewed this year's Eurovision Song Contest as a real crapfest this year & the first rule of yodel club is do not talk about yodel club
We did auctions
we adjourned at 8:55
And the rumor of the week is 'BASFA is developing a Groot fetish'
