Announcements

Kevin Roche:
- The Masquerade entry form for WorldCon is now online through the Dublin website: dublin2019.com

Andrew Trembley:
- The Voters have spoken, and WesterCon 74 a Wild Wild WesterCon in Tonopah, NV. In July 2021. Registration is online at westercon74.org It won by 80 to 50 votes.
Dave Clark: The Tonopah bid was possibly significantly aided by the fact that the Phoenix bid wasn’t there until late on Thursday.

Dave Gallaher:
- Columbus, OH will host next year’s NASFiC at the Columbus Hyatt Regency (and possibly the Convention Center)

Reviews

John Wenz:
- Midsommar. Horror movie from the people who made Hereditary. Harrowing domestic drama thrown into a horror cult. Recommend for horror fans.
- Stranger Things (3) Good, but maybe it’s time to make it Strangest Things and give it a rest.

Dave Clark
- SpikeCon. A combination of Westercon 72, NASFiC 2019, 1632 MiniCon and Manticon. Each con had it’s own set of GOHs. A Bane Books friend zone. Good dealers room. Not a lot of publishers pushing their coming lineup (which would be a NASFiC thing). Food service from the convention center was good. Was a con-goer this time, and not a dealer.
Andrew Trembley & Kevin Roche: Ton of programs, but not always well attended. Parties were disastrous. Liquor laws also made most parties (and Match Game SF) dry. Around 800 attendees. Several decent restaurants within walking distance.

Kevin Roche
- Watched the recent Robin Hood film on the flight. More forgivable if you take Tuck’s prologue about forgetting history. It was all sorts of wrong (history, costumes, tech, &c...) Worse than Price of Persia (just better than the SyFy Flash Gordon.)

There was no auction.

Rumor of the Week: Rumor? We don’t need rumor. I don’t have to show you any stinking rumor!
