Minutes of Meeting #1518

Trey Haddad, President

held at the Black Bear Diner, Milpitas
Called to order at 8 pm - with ice cream
19 people attended
We established a party jar
The minutes of meeting 1517 were accepted as 'posted 45 minutes ago online'
the Treasurer reported that last week we took in $0.65 in the regular jar & $0.50 in the party jar
the VP had nothing fannish to report
the President had nothing fannish to report
The Sports Committee is still investigating an outing to the Sharks
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Howeird announced that he is moving to Las Vegas & brought things to share with the club in hopes of inspiring donations
John Wenz announced that his first book is coming out: 'The Lost Planets', non-fiction about exo-planets, check mitpress.mit.edu
Dave C announced that today Scooby Doo is 50 years and 3 days old
REVIEWS:
The secretary reviewed current political theatre as unconvincing
Lisa reviewed MAG West Con [Music & Games] as it's the 4th year of the con & was very nice
Bill reviewed their Irish & European vacation as Irish 2-lane roads are only a suggestions, that they saw much nice and less-nice scenery & that upgrading airline seat choices with airline miles is worth it
Gerry reviewed their Worldcon trip as 'full of interesting experiences' & the con badge was near perfection & also reviewed reporting of a neutron star as it exemplifies modern physics & was reported badly
Howeird reviewed the attempted Indian moon landing as the mission controllers relied far too much on automation & it looked run by amateurs
we did auctions
we adjourned at 8:47
Rumor of the week was 'This would be the BASFA rumor of the week if it weren't for you meddling kids'
