Secretary = The minutes of meeting 1690 were posted online, and were accepted as: better light than never. (to be read with an Australian accent.)
Treasurer = Regular: $15,805.32;
Party: $230.58
Money can be sent to salve guilt via Paypal - sent to = dwgallaher@gmail.com
Vice President = Nothing Fannish
President = Not present.
Relocation Committee: How about Game Stores with play areas? If they are open late enough on a Monday, and are willing to host (may need to be food friendly…)
Gerald is proposing that we give the Milpitas Denny’s a try. He would be willing to cover the guarantee difference. We’ll wait for the President and Secretary to be present to discuss further.
A suggestion was made to the outings committee for a BASFA Relaxi-con? Meetup at a hotel.
New Business: No new business.
Announcements:
Lisa: Cindy Williams (of Laverne & Shirley) passed away at 79. (Ken adds that she was also the star of The Creature Wasn’t Nice, an Alien parody that was butchered by the studio).
Gallifrey One still has a few tickets left. gallifreyone.com
Yochanan: Lisa Loring, the original Wednesday Addams died age 64.
Picard’s Borg Queen Annie Wersching passed at age 45 (Ken notes that she was also in The Last of Us, which is reviewed below).
Disney+’s The Mysterious Benedict Society is not being renewed.
The Sistine Chapel is doing a projection display at Oakridge Mall. (Possibly like the Van Gogh immersive experience?)
Gerald: He and Gayle will be at RadCon in Pascal WA. 16-19 February.
Reviews
Yochanan: The Last Ship (Hulu) A ship trying to work on curing a pandemic (the series was a few years before COVID). He had seen the early seasons, but was finally able to catch up on what he’d missed. Kind of lost steam in being the savior of the world year after year… Gave him a starship vibe with the ship on the ocean. Based on a novel. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Ship_(TV_series)
The Last of Us (HBO) Based on video game. A fungal infection turns people into zombies. Three episodes in, and liking it already. Closely matches the video game. Non-linear storytelling. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_of_Us_(TV_series)
Craig: Assassination Classroom (anime). Tentatively recommending. A creature that has destroyed the moon, and soon the earth, is teaching kids to kill him, which may be impossible. Odd, curious. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassination_Classroom
Rumor of the Week: This weeks rumor is there’s no rumor.
