REVIEWS:
Rick reviewed the current episode of season 2's Apple TV+ adaptation of Asimov's 'Foundation' series as it continues to plot-boil quite nicely & there was some discussion
& Rick reviewed the animated 'Babylon 5: The Road Home' as wonderful. He says that it is everything fans hoped for, has some laugh-out-loud moments (particularly with Zathras), and hints at a bold rejiggering for the hoped-for relaunch of the series. Worth your streaming dollar & 'has been released for home media on Blu-ray, 4K, and video on demand by Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment on August 14 (UK) and August 15, 2023 (USA).'
& Rick reviewed the latest 'Laundry Files' novel by Charles Stross, entitled 'Season of Skulls', as including a fitting homage to the Village from 'The Prisoner' as the protagonist, Eve, goes back in time to the Napoleanic Age of 1814 & hijinks ensue. Rick recommends the book
Yochanan reviewed 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' current animated film as well-done. He thought it was rather cool & really liked it. Yochanan recommends it highly & the film is out in theaters now
& Yochanan reviewed 'The Future of Another Timeline' by Annalee Newitz, which is a story about another version of Earth and how attempts to make small changes in history there through time travel lead to different results. He found it interesting, even if the ending is a little weak, but overall thinks the book is a great read & highly recommends it
& he reviewed a small local convention, the '3rd annual San Jose Comic Con', held at the SJ Holiday Inn last Sunday, as a 1-day fandom event with some guests - including Jerry Mathers whom Yochanan enjoyed meeting a great deal. He found it to be a cute little local con & was glad he went. See = https://sanjosecon.com/
we adjourned at 8:32 pm
and the rumor of the week was = 'India's lunar lander may be more successful because it has more arms and fewer beefs'
