Reviews
JC reviewed the SJ Super Toy Show at the SJ Fairgrounds that there were tons of people there on Saturday & the next one will be in June & he recommends it
Dave C reviewed Jonathan L Howard's book 'Johannes Caval, the Necromancer' as 'it's a spritely road to hell' & a fun read, worth full price
Brad reviewed 'Annihilation' as it had excellent visual but 'lacked a layer of depth, so its purpose escaped me' - worth matinee - & Andy recommended folks to see it soon
Adrienne reviewed 'Dunkirk' as good - with a good soundtrack - then 'Darkest Hour' as good, but she's not sure it's historically accurate, then 'Call me By Your Name' as the most boring of the 5 movies she saw, then 'The Post' as she LOVED it & 'Get Out' as akin to a Gothic romance and a refreshing twist on the genre & was glad it won 'best screenplay'; then Mo agreed that 'Dunkirk' had the best soundtrack, but in general the theatre played the sound too loudly, she enjoyed the way they did 'The Post' & she found 'Get Out' to be delightfully creepy; Bill followed, opining that Gary Oldman was excellent in 'Darkest Hour'
John O reviewed 'Dark Crystal' as a Fathom event & still an amazing movie to watch & that the animatronics are still amazing now & he very much recommends the movie - there were various folk who agreed on the awesomeness of the movie & the way it was made - & was mention that 'Labyrinth' will be a Fathom event soon; then John O also reviewed 'Star Trek Live' at the Oasis as 'Turnabout Intruder' was done in drag and one of the funniest things he's ever seen, definitely worth full price & highly recommended - and it runs thru March 24
Gayle reviewed MarsCon [March 2-4] in Minneapolis as very comfortable & enjoyable & Gerry did a presentation there
we had auctions
we adjourned at 9:10
Rumor of the week was that 'Fred wins the jet ski'
