Reviews
DaveC BayCon. Selling books, sales not as good…. But he wants to talk about the Nissan Rogue - a rental SUV - not as much room in his Passat Wagon. Not as low or wide. Got everything in, but probably shouldn’t have Hopes for no sudden stops….
Finished reading Johannes Cabal the Detective by Jonathan Howard (second in the series) Diabolical character in an Agatha Christie setting on an airship. Author is having too much fun. Recommends the book
Mo There was this convention - BayCon - in San Mateo. The food at the Marriott sucked on toast. A hop skip and a jump to El Camino, found Cuban Kitchen - excellent, greasy spoon. Jack’s Restaurant as well, 3 types of Mac&Cheese. Might be in our best interest as groups to go off site for meals. Bought from Cargo Cult, dealers room small. Good art show.
Adrienne: Hear that weekend got booked for something else next year - so new venue, or new date? It was a small con (under 600?) Enjoyable. Met interesting people. Not a bad experience.
Fred: Warm bodies up over 800.
Lisa: Enjoyed it (despite going in and out). Good programming mix. Need to improve the masquerade. Parties were light. Good to get out of the house. No lobby or good hangouts due to construction.
Brad: Enjoyed the programming. Was on 5 panels and got along with all the panelists. Audience got into the topics. The green room was ok.
Gayle: Went to mainly science panels. Audience seemed knowledgable as well. Housekeeping seemed uncomfortably friendly. Room was pretty nice.
FredM: The staff were all wearing Star Wars tshirts, bought by the company.
FredC: Staff incentives on collecting badge ribbons.
RickM: San Mateo has grown up since he lived there. Nice restaurant Apple Fritter (in an old Taco Bell), great for breakfast. Also went to Little Shanghai, near the fair grounds - fantastic. Hotel had porblems, but can’t say more.
FredM: The Curry On is tasty, but Gau Poang food wasn’t as good as he hoped.
We had three birthday auctions (Fred, Robin & Rick)
The meeting adjourned at: 21:19, and the rumor of the week was: I’m still thinking
