Called to order at 20:00 with 23 people in attendance.
A party jar was established
The Minutes of meeting #1465 were posted online prior to the meeting and were accepted as: The regular secretary is so glad she’s not here tonight.

The President was MIA with the Secretary
Party committee reported that the next party will be at PAWcon at the doubletree November 2 & 3 at 8pm. pacanthro.org/2018/
Sports committee announced that we have Sharks tickets for the Star Wars night (v. the Flyers) on Saturday, November 3 Tickets are $83 each, and are located behind the Sharks 1st & 3rd period goal, in the lower level.

RickM Jacqueline Pearce passed away from lung cancer, at 74. She played Servalan in Blake’s 7.
Menlo Park outdoor movies: Coming up, this Friday, SW Last Jedi. Coco will be later in the month.
JC Weekend of 29 & 30 Sept, San Jose super toy show at the SCC Fairgrounds. timetunneltoys.com for more info.
Bill Upcoming movies, in descending level of trepidation: Mary Poppins Returns, Dumbo (Live action), Nutcracker
Spring Lost another Hugo award.
DaveC Doctor Who Video: All the Matt Smiths in one package, all Peter Capaldis in one, and the Eccleston/Tennant in one. DVD & BD If you have any holes in your current collections, talk to him - as he can not return all the older releases.
Ken: Peter Davison’s first series on BD in Nov/Dec
Atheus Has 2 copies of Red Dwarf X region 1. Any one want to buy? (Gordon might…)

DaveG At the end of July, he and Spring went to Las Vegas for the big Star Trek Convention (creation.) Spring is a dealer there. Dealers room schedule was: Tu 6-10:30p, W 9a-7p, Th 8:30a-7p, Fr 8a-7p, Sa 8a-7p Sun 8a-6p. This is referred to as the creation death march. Everyone seemed to have a good time. Sales were decent. Came home for 4 days then Worldcon76.
MeTV on Sat night/Sun am. - Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea TV series. This past weekend was the season 2 opener - in color. Like Lost in Space, became dumbed down when in color. Still entertaining, but first season more interesting.
DaveC: Look at Lost in Space for Irwin Allen’s commitment to special effects.
MeTV only on ATT-Uverse in the Bay Area (no cable or over the air since January.) Parent company is looking to purchase a local broadcaster.
Gordon Last weekend went to Bubonicon 50 in Albuquerque, NM. Good time had by all. Strong art show.
Carole Saw Christopher Robin at the Pruneyard (dinner and a movie in one!) Enjoyable. Can be enjoyed at home if you can’t make it to the theatre.
Bill: Was in the mood for Pooh. Live action with Obi Wan and Doctor Who (12), Agent Carter. Enjoyable.
JohnO: Also saw it this weekend. Enjoyed. Worth movie club membership ($8/ea) Will tickle your memory bone…
Gerold Diana Paxon has finished the 8th book of Westria series - The Turquoise Scepter. Not his usual fare, but found it a good page-turner. (based on unedited manuscript.)
JohnO Planned to do either the whole MCU in IMAX, or Harry Potter. DId Deathly Hallows (1&2) on Sat night. Fairly fresh to him & Chris. They cut a lot of the angsty teens in the tent from the books out. Storyline holds together, but the ending felt rushed. Wrapped up well. Realized in book 5 that Neville was going to be the real hero. Back-to-back is worth it.
Lisa: SyFy has been marathoning HP this weekend as well. New Fantastic Beasts is this November.
