Called to order at 8 pm - with a prompt
16 people [eventually] attended
we established a party jar
The minutes of meeting 1466 were accepted as 'already posted online'
the Treasurer reported that at meeting 1466, we took in $2.50 in the regular jar & $22.25 in the party jar
the VP had nothing fannish to report
the President had nothing fannish to report
The Party Committee reported that the next BASFA party will be held on Friday & Saturday at PawCon at the Doubltree [Nov 2-4]
The Sports Committee reported that the BASFA outing to the Sharks game on Saturday, Nov 3rd has only 2 tickets left at $83/each [make that no tickets left & if you want to come along, contact Dave G, so he can talk to the Sharks]
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Gerry announced that Diane Osborne's father died
[Other] Barbara announced that she had a short story published in Almagre Review, issue #5, Summer 2018, under Parker Pickering entitled 'The Chewta'
Candy announced that there will be a SETI talks on Nov 10, 7pm & on Nov 13, 1pm, https://www.seti.org/talks
REVIEWS:
David Wallace reviewed Yoon Ha Lee's book 'Revanent Gun', the 3rd in a series, as entertaining & well-written, but there were just a few too many call-backs to the prior 2 books
Gerry reviewed 'Rubicon' by Tom Holland, written in 2003 as narrative history about the last years of the Roman Republic & highly recommended
we did auctions
we adjourned at 9:31
