held at the Black Bear Diner, Milpitas
Called to order at 8 pm - with squeaks
16 people attended
We established a party jar
The minutes of meeting 1511 were accepted as 'posted online & scratchy'
the Treasurer was absent, but the proxy treasurer's report is that last week we took in $1.50 in the regular jar & $5.25 in the party jar
the VP had nothing fannish to report
the President had nothing fannish to report, but we said 'hi' to George Bill, visiting us for the 1st time, an aspiring writer who was 'not quite sure why he's here'.
The Party Committee reported that the next BASFA party will be at PawCon, Nov 1-2 on both Friday & Saturday nights & that there is no party funding request because -for the first time- the party donations broke even with the costs
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
JC announced that he's been very busy doing lots of renovation work at his house & as of today the house is sold & that they are looking to move to Sparks, NV as of the 1st week of September
Aaetheus announced that the weekend of August 17th is Silicon Valley Comic Con at the SJ Convention Center
REVIEWS:
Andy reviewed 'The Boys' as a fantastic & very dark superhero genre TV show & Karl Urban is awesome - JC commented that 'they don't hold shit back' & Dave C mentioned it's based on a series of graphic novels
The secretary reviewed 'The Girl with All the Gifts' [shown on regular TV] as a very good adaptation of the book with good acting that helps to hide the plot flaw in its version of the zombie genre & highly recommended
we did auctions
we adjourned at 8:29
Rumor of the week was 'I drove to BASFA and all I got was a participation trophy'
